Medical Coverage or health care funded by the government has been extended to international students by New Brunswick. This is applicable to overseas students who are pursuing full-time studies in the province. The extension of medical coverage was announced on 6 October 2017 and comes into immediate effect from this day.
Roger Melanson Post-Secondary Education Minister of New Brunswick said that the province proudly announces the extension of medical coverage to overseas students in the colleges and universities of New Brunswick. The campuses in the province have become diverse and richer owing to overseas students, added Roger Melanson, as quoted by the Canada Study News.
The government of New Brunswick offered medical coverage to international students to appeal and retain them in the province for higher education.
Benoît Bourque Health Minister of New Brunswick said that the government accepts that the accessibility and delivery of healthcare has a crucial impact on the people’s quality of life in the province. The government proudly extends the medical coverage to international students and offers them healthcare on par with their peers in Canada, added the Minister.
Medicare application form that is fully furnished must be submitted by international students to receive the medical coverage.

Date of arrival to New Brunswick
An authorized study permit from the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada
Evidence of full-time registration in a college or university in the province.
Medical coverage will also be available for dependents and spouses that will be of advantage not only to the overseas students but also all qualified members of the family who arrive at New Brunswick.
