A Turkey Visit Visa is a short-term visa. It allows people to travel to Turkey for tourism, family visits, or business meetings. It is only for a short stay, and you must return to your home country after your trip.

Types of Turkey Visit Visa

Tourist e-Visa

The Turkey e-Visa is available to Indian nationals only if they hold a valid, unexpired visa or residence permit from a Schengen country, the United States, the United Kingdom or the Republic of Ireland. If you do not hold any of these, you must apply for a sticker visa. The e-Visa allows a stay of up to 30 days within a 180-day validity period. Apply only at evisa.gov.tr, the official portal of the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Turkish Embassy in New Delhi states that no handling company is authorised to issue or facilitate e-Visas.

Tourist Sticker Visa (Type C)

Most Indian tourists need to apply for a sticker visa, which entails submission at a visa application centre. This visa is for sightseeing, visiting family or friends, or attending events. It requires an in-person application at a Gateway International Visa Centre, the authorised partner of the Turkish Embassy in India. Sticker visas are available to all Indian passport holders.

Short Stay Business Visa (Type C)

This visa is for attending business meetings, conferences, or trade fairs. It does not allow you to work or earn money in Turkey. It is useful for working professionals and business owners who wish to attend conferences, business meetings, and trade fairs, and to establish commercial contracts in Turkey.

Family Visit Visa (Type C)

This visa is for visiting family members or close friends living in Turkey. You will need an invitation letter from your host that includes their ID and proof of residence, along with your travel details.

Airport Transit Visa (Electronic)

Indian citizens transiting via Istanbul Airport while travelling to Mexico, Panama, Colombia, and Venezuela are required to obtain an electronic Airport Transit Visa.

National Long-Stay Visa (Work Visa)

Indians need a Turkey work visa for employment purposes, which allows them to legally work in the country, usually for a Turkish employer. Eligibility for Turkey Tourist Visa

Indian nationals can apply for a Turkey e-Visa only if they hold a valid Schengen, US, UK or Irish visa or residence permit. This is an official requirement enforced at evisa.gov.tr. All other Indian applicants must apply for a sticker visa through Gateway International India.

To apply for either route, you must meet these requirements:

• A valid Indian passport with at least 6 months validity from the date of entry into Turkey.
• A clear reason for travel, such as tourism, visiting family, or business meetings.
• Proof of sufficient financial capacity, a minimum bank balance of ₹1.5–2 lakhs is recommended.
• Confirmed return flight ticket or onward travel itinerary, and proof of accommodation such as hotel reservations or an invitation letter.
• Comprehensive travel insurance covering medical emergencies, hospitalisation and repatriation. A minimum of €30,000 is recommended; verify the current Turkish requirement at the Turkish Embassy India.
• No criminal record or past visa or immigration issues.
• For e-Visa applicants: a valid visa or residence permit from the Schengen area, the US, the UK, or Ireland.

Turkey Visit Visa Requirements

The documents below are required for the sticker visa route, for both tourist and business categories. For an e-Visa at evisa.gov.tr, you only need your passport details and your qualifying visa or residence permit.

• Completed and signed Turkey visa application form
• Two recent colour photographs taken within the last six months, on a plain white background, with your full face clearly visible and no glasses
• Original passport valid for at least 6 months upon arrival in Turkey with at least 2 full blank pages, including copies of the passport's first, last, and visa pages
• Cover letter clearly stating the purpose of travel, travel itinerary, and transport arrangements
• Confirmed flight reservations for round-trip tickets or a travel itinerary
• Proof of sufficient financial means such as bank statements and ITR for the last 2–3 years
• Comprehensive travel insurance covering medical emergencies, hospitalisation and repatriation for your entire stay in Turkey
• Address proof in home country
• Biometric data (fingerprints and photograph) submitted in person at the visa centre

Step-by-Step Turkey Tourist Visa Application

Step 1: Choose the right visa type based on your travel purpose — e-Visa (if you are eligible) or Sticker Visa.

Step 2: Check if you can apply for a Turkey e-Visa. Indian citizens can apply online only if they have a valid visa or residence permit from the US, UK, Ireland, or any Schengen country. If not, you must apply for a sticker visa.

Step 3: Collect all required documents like passport copy, photos, travel insurance, flight tickets, and hotel booking proof.

Step 4: Book an appointment at your nearest Gateway International Visa Centre through the official Gateway International India website. Centres are located in major Indian cities; check the website for the current list and your jurisdiction. Applicants under the Hyderabad jurisdiction fall under the Turkish Consulate General in Hyderabad.

Step 5: Visit the Gateway International Visa Centre with your application form, passport, original documents, photos and payment receipt. Submit your biometrics and documents.

Step 6: Pay the visa fee. A part (₹6,814) is paid online while booking, and the remaining amount is paid at the centre.

Step 7: Wait for processing. You can track your application using your reference number.

Step 8: Collect your passport with the visa or choose courier delivery. Then travel to Turkey and show your visa at immigration.

Turkey Tourist Visa Processing Time

Turkey sticker visa applications typically take 10–15 working days from the date of submission at Gateway International. The e-Visa is usually processed within 1–3 working days once submitted online at evisa.gov.tr. Delays may occur during peak travel seasons or due to missing documents. Apply at least 4 weeks before your travel date for a sticker visa. Note that you cannot apply for a Turkey visa more than 60 days in advance.

Turkey Tourist Visa Fee

The Turkey e-Visa costs approximately USD 43 (about ₹3,600–₹4,000) at evisa.gov.tr for eligible applicants. A single-entry sticker visa costs approximately ₹5,210 (visa fee) plus ₹12,513 (application fee), and a multiple-entry sticker visa costs approximately ₹14,220. All fees are non-refundable.
