Germany is one of Europe's most sought-after tourist destinations, celebrated for its rich history, diverse cultural heritage, and a compelling mix of medieval architecture and modern urban life. From the bustling streets of Berlin to the fairytale landscapes of Bavaria, Germany offers a wide range of experiences for every type of traveller.
Here are the top 5 places to visit in Germany:

To qualify for a Germany Visitor Visa, applicants must meet the following mandatory eligibility requirements set by the German Consulate and Schengen Area authorities:
The German Consulate expects financial sufficiency of approximately EUR 45–75 per day of stay (approximately INR 4,950–8,250 per day at current rates). For a 15-day Germany visit, that works out to roughly EUR 675–1,125 (approximately INR 74,250–1,23,750). Required documents: 6 months of bank statements showing consistent income (sudden large deposits are a red flag), ITR for 2–3 years, salary slips for 3 months, and an employer letter confirming employment, salary, approved leave, and your return requirement.

Step 1: Payment & Sign-Up: The process begins with payment approval by Y-Axis Accounts. Once payment is confirmed, the client signs up for the selected Germany Visitor Visa service.
Step 2: Agreement & Consultant Assignment: The client reviews and signs the service agreement to confirm deliverables. A dedicated Process Consultant (PC) is then assigned and introduces the workflow and next steps.
Step 3: Personalized Document Checklist & Document Collection: The assigned PC prepares a customized document checklist based on the applicant’s travel purpose, financial background, and visa category. The client collects and submits all required documents—such as passport, photographs, proof of funds, itinerary, accommodation, and insurance—as per VFS Global Germany and German Consulate requirements.
Step 4: Application Form Completion & File Preparation: The PC assists in filling out the VIDEX online form, reviewing all details, and compiling a complete application file with supporting evidence for submission.
Step 5: Appointment Scheduling (VFS Global Germany): The PC guides the client to book an appointment at the nearest VFS Germany Visa Application Centre for document submission and biometrics.
Step 6: Biometrics & File Submission: The applicant attends the VFS appointment to provide fingerprints and photographs, submit the application, and pay visa and service fees.
Step 7: Application Processing by the Consulate: The German Consulate processes the application, which typically takes 15–30 working days, depending on the season and individual case. Additional documents or interviews may be requested if necessary.
Step 8: Passport Collection or Delivery: Once a decision is made, the applicant receives their passport either by courier or in person from VFS. Approved applications include the Schengen Visa sticker.
Step 9: Travel to Germany: With the visa granted, applicants can travel to Germany and all 29 Schengen countries, adhering to entry and stay conditions printed on the visa.

Travel insurance is mandatory when applying for a German tourist visa. Coverage must be Schengen-compliant, with a minimum of EUR 30,000 (EUR 50,000 recommended) for medical emergencies and repatriation, valid across all Schengen countries for your entire trip. A 15-day policy from an Indian insurer such as TATA AIG, Bajaj Allianz, ICICI Lombard, or HDFC ERGO typically costs around INR 300–1,200, depending on age and coverage level. Frequent travellers should consider an annual multi-trip policy.
While you cannot extend your German tourist visa, it is only possible under certain conditions, such as medical emergencies, unavoidable circumstances, or on humanitarian grounds.
Yes — Indians who have used at least 2 Schengen visas in the past 3 years qualify for a 2-year multiple-entry Schengen visa under the Cascade Visa Regime (2024) when applying through Germany. Step 1: 2 or more prior Schengen visas used in the past 3 years, with no overstays, qualifies you for the 2-year upgrade. Step 2: After using the 2-year visa appropriately — respecting the 90/180 rule with no violations — you qualify for a 5-year multiple-entry visa. Tell your Y-Axis consultant about your prior Schengen visa stamps to be assessed.
Yes — Indian business professionals can attend German trade fairs on a Germany Schengen Type C Trade Fair & Exhibitions Visa. The key required document is an official business invitation from the trade fair's organising body.
Indian IT majors including TCS, Wipro, Infosys, and HCL regularly exhibit at Hannover Messe Digital, reflecting the roughly EUR 30 billion in annual India-Germany bilateral trade.
Trade fair calendar and application deadlines: Hannover Messe (apply by Feb/March) │ Frankfurt Book Fair (apply by August) │ ITB Berlin (apply by January)
Visiting Germany on a tourist visa often accelerates the immigration decision. The Germany Opportunity Card (Chancenkarte), in force since June 1, 2024 under Section 20a of the German Residence Act, lets skilled non-EU professionals enter Germany to search for a job without a prior offer.
Many Y-Axis clients who first came for a Germany tourist visa are now on the path to German residency through the Opportunity Card.
