ABOUT MANITOBA

Manitoba is one of the Prairie Provinces of Canada. Three provinces – Alberta, Manitoba, and Saskatchewan – together form the Canadian Prairie Provinces. Manitoba, taken from the Indian word for “the God who speaks”, is known for its more than 100,000 lakes. In the north, Manitoba shares its borders with Nunavut. The US states of Minnesota and North Dakota lie towards the south of the province. Ontario in the east and Saskatchewan to the west make up the other neighbors of Manitoba.

“Winnipeg is the largest capital city of the Canadian province of Manitoba.”

The other prominent cities in Manitoba include –

  • Brandon
  • Selkirk
  • Steinbach
  • The Pas
  • Thompson
  • Morden
  • Portage La Prairie
  • Winkler
  • Dauphin

Manitoba is a part of the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) of Canada. Manitoba nominates individuals – through the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) – for their Canadian permanent residence.

MPNP STREAMS

The Manitoba PNP program offers Canada immigration pathways to recent graduates, businesspeople, skilled workers, and their families that have the clear intention as well as the ability to settle down in Manitoba.

  • Skilled Worker
  • International Education
  • Business Investor
Skilled Workers

It is divided into two sub-categories like skilled workers overseas and skilled workers in Manitoba. The Skilled Workers in Manitoba Canada immigration pathway nominates applicants with a strong connection – mainly in the form of an “ongoing Manitoba employment” – to the province. The MPNP’s Skilled Worker Overseas pathway, on the other hand, is for applicants that are able to demonstrate “an established connection” to Manitoba.

International Education

The International Education category of the MPNP is for Manitoba graduates, that is, international students graduating from any higher education institution in the province. Manitoba graduates – meeting the requirements of the local industry in the province – get a faster pathway to a nomination through the MPNP for immigrating to Manitoba.

The International Education Stream (IES) of the MPNP has 3 separate pathways.

  • Career Employment Pathway
  • Graduate Internship Pathway
  • International Student Entrepreneur Pilot (ISEP)
Business Investor Stream (BIS)

The Business Investor Stream (BIS) of the MPNP allows Manitoba province to recruit and nominate qualified entrepreneurs as well as business investors from across the globe that have the ability as well as the means of either purchasing an existing concern or starting a new business in Manitoba. There are 2 separate pathways under the MPNP’s Business Investor Stream

  • Entrepreneur Pathway (EP)
  • Farm Investor Pathway (FIP)
Manitoba Express Entry Pathway

Manitoba Express Entry Pathway is linked with the Federal Express Entry system of Canada. An Express Entry candidate that is successful in securing a provincial nomination – through any of the PNP-linked Express Entry streams – is automatically allotted 600 CRS points.

By ‘CRS’ here is implied the score, out of a maximum of 1,200, based on the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). As it is the highest-ranked Express Entry profiles that are issued invitations to apply in the federal draws that are held, a PNP nomination guarantees an invitation. Locally driven, the Skilled Worker stream of the MPNP takes into account the specific needs and requirements of Manitoba employers.

No. LAAs are issued by the MPNP to candidates with the potential to qualify. An applicant will be required to meet all requirements of Manitoba PNP stream applying to. Similarly, they must meet all Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada [IRCC] requirements to get a Canada PR visa. The final decision lies with IRCC.

My relatives live in Canada, but not in Manitoba. Will it impact my MPNP application?

In order to be granted an MPNP nomination, an individual must be able to demonstrate their commitment to Manitoba.

While having friends/relatives in another Canadian province will not lead to automatic rejection, the applicant must be able to convince the MPNP that they will indeed live in Manitoba and not go to join their family/family in the other province.

A provincial nominee might be issued a Work Permit Support Letter [WPSL], allowing them to apply to IRCC for a Canadian work permit.

What is the in-demand occupations list for Manitoba PNP program?

This is an important aspect of each pathway in Manitoba. This list provides details of in-demand occupations in the province. These are related to specific skilled streams. Applicants must belong to the specific occupation and meet the criteria and requirements for the pathway. Those meeting these conditions will qualify for the draw.

Candidates must meet the criteria and conditions for any of the pathways. During the Expression of Interest draws, candidates who work in a high-demand profession will be given priority. Individuals may be qualified for one of the pathways even though they have no prior experience in one of the mentioned professions in some cases.

How can one apply under the Manitoba Express Entry program?

People who want to come to Manitoba via the MPNP should first build a Canada Express Entry profile. If the future immigrant is granted a Manitoba nomination, the nomination certificate will be added to his or her Express Entry profile automatically, granting him or her an additional 600 points under the Express Entry system. This will increase his chances of getting an ITA for Canada PR in a subsequent Express Entry draw.
