To apply for the tourist visa, you need to fill an online application form. You must submit the required visa and travel documents.

To the visa interview, bring the completed application form as well as any supporting documentation. At the same time, you must pay the fees and submit the biometrics.

Which visa do I have to apply for?

For travelling to Czech Republic as a tourist or visitor, you will be required to apply for the short-term (Schengen) visa for up to 90 days.

The processing period can be extended to 30 days because of the number of applications received by the embassy/consulate or the uniqueness of your situation.

It can take up to 45 days for exceptional applications to be processed by the embassy/consulate.

Why is the processing time extended?

The processing time can extend beyond 15 calendar days in situations where –

  • Further scrutiny of the application is required, or
  • Additional documentation is needed.
What is the ideal time to apply?

The Embassy of the Czech Republic in New Delhi “strongly recommends to apply at least 3 weeks prior the planned departure”.

Can I appeal if my visa was rejected?

Yes, you can appeal against the rejection.

The appeal must be lodged with the Consulate, which agreed to deny the visa, within 15 days of the receipt of the visa rejection.

What is the appeal procedure?

The appeal against the rejection will have to be lodged at the Embassy of the Czech Republic in New Delhi.

No emails are entertained in this behalf.

The appeal must be original with the appellant’s original signature, that is to say, in person or by post (not email).

You can only start an appeal procedure by submitting a written application for the same.

The name of the claimant and the reasons why the applicant finds the rejection decision to be contrary to the law must be included in the appeal.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic will review the appeal within 35 days of receipt of the appeal by the consulate. The results of the examination are submitted by the same consulate to the applicant.

What is the processing time for a Czech Republic visit visa?

It can take up to 15 calendar days to process a short-term (Schengen) visa. Keep in mind that processing timelines can range from 30 to 60 calendar days depending on the conditions.
