More than 1.8 million students may study abroad by 2024

According to an analysis from the RedSeer Strategy consultant, there is a rapid growth in the number of Indian students who want to study overseas. In 2019, this number was 800,000 and it is forecasted that the number will increase up to 1.8 million by 2024.

The favorite destinations where Indian students want to study are:

  • Canada
  • Australia
  • The UK
  • The USA

Factors that drive rapid growth in the number of students to study overseas

There are different types of factors that contribute to the rapid growth in the number of Indian students who prefer to study overseas. One of these factors is high-quality higher education programmes. Students go abroad for higher education in popular institutions available in the destinations mentioned above.

The second reason is that there is not enough space for Indian students to get higher education in India. The financial capacity of Indian families is improving and they are able to provide funds to their children to study abroad.

Families are ready to spend on students to get higher education abroad after K-12. Indians are also aware of the benefits that they will get while studying abroad and this factor is also leading to the growth in the number of students going abroad.
