The Ministry of Business Innovation and Employment had said in its report ‘Short-term Employment Forecasts: 2015-2018' that utility and construction sectors will have strong growth of jobs. The Ministry of Business Innovation and Employment in its edition 'National Construction Pipeline Report' for 2016 estimated 30 billion dollars construction activity. This is a sign that construction industry is becoming more sustainable and stable from being cyclical according to New Zealand Institute of Building.

 

Each edition of the report after 2013 had predicted a peak of activity for 2017. However, the subsequent editions also estimate a slower and flatter tail-off after this period implying increased construction for a longer period. It is a good sign for anyone interested to work in this industry in 2017 and on wards either on a permanent or short-term basis.

 

Conventional sectors such as Construction will keep up their position as major providers of jobs. The job market will however also become responsive to the transforming culture and economy of New Zealand.

It also observes that IT, Beverages and Food industries are also emerging as the new jobs sources.
