US will continue to welcome Indian IT workers, says Indian American Trump ally

Shalabh 'Shalli' Kumar, an Indian businessman based out of Chicago and a Trump supporter, said that superficial trade hurdles between India and America would vanish quickly and added that apprehensions over the revamping of H-1B visa scheme have been blown out of proportion.

The man who donated slightly less than $900,000 to Donald Trump during his election campaign said that President was primarily a businessman, who knows how to develop US.

Kumar added that Trump was also aware of US Chambers of Commerce’s position that to develop the American economy the North American country needs many talented people in information technology.

With in Trump in place, it is expected that H1B system’s abuse and fraud would be overseen well, he added. When the US economy is growing at four to five percent per year, America would need IT work and IT workers, which would mainly comprise Indians, said Kumar.

He stated that Trump only promised to check that H-1B and L-1 visa programmes are not being misused.

Kumar was quoted by the Press Trust of India a saying that Indians need not worry about words being twisted in orders. He was of the view that Indians should not be concerned about H-1B visas.

Kumar, the chairman and CEO of VG Advanced Technologies, an electronics manufacturing firm, said that the concerns over H-1B, immigration and green card are being overblown. He said that on his part he would like to give an assurance to Indians and Indian IT industry that situation would improve for them in the next few months, and not worsen as is being feared.

According to him, in the next few years India would play a key role in America’s planned growth, which would benefit India too.
