The government of United Kingdom (UK) is introducing a graduate entrepreneur visa for non-EU students sponsored by UK-based universities. Foreign students in the UK can apply for the Tier-1 entrepreneur visa after completion of their studies, provided the university endorses their application.
Students from business schools can submit an application along with a business plan and details of adequate resources to support their business venture. The applications will be shortlisted based on the Individual Action Plan (IAP), application quality, and experience of the applicant.
Once the plan receives a nod from the experts, a visa will be issued thus allowing the applicants to stay in the UK for a period of one year and start their business venture.
That said, a new legislation to restrict foreign students' stay in the UK post education is also in the offing. So it would be interesting to see how the UK balances both the acts at once i.e. sending foreign students back home after completion of their courses, and allowing the same to apply for a Tier 1 Graduate Entrepreneur Visa.
