Highlights of a pact between India and Canada for unlimited flights

  • Canada and India will enter into a pact that will allow unlimited flights between India and Canada.

The G20 Summit that was conducted from November 15th to November 16th, 2022 was significant for India. India at the G20 Summit Among the important developments was a pact between India and Canada, that was announced ahead of the Summit at the B20 event.

India and Canada will enter a pact to start an unlimited number of flights between select cities in both countries. This will complement the deeper economic and trade relations Canada is seeking in the Indo-Pacific region.

This is what Justin Trudeau, Prime Minister of Canada, said about the new development between the two nations.

“Today, we are announcing an agreement between Canada and India that will allow an unlimited number of flights between our two countries… it will facilitate trade and investment between Canada and India,”

As per reports, according to this new pact, Air India and Air Canada will conduct 29 flights between the two countries. These will be non-stop flights.

Following the agreement, Canadian airlines will get access to the following Indian cities:

  • Chennai
  • Bengaluru
  • Hyderabad
  • Delhi
  • Mumbai
  • Kolkata

On the other hand, Indian air carriers will get access to the following Canadian cities:

  • Montreal
  • Toronto
  • Vancouver
  • Edmonton
  • two more points that are yet to be chosen by India

Revealing Canada’s intentions in the Indo-Pacific region, Justin Trudeau stated that his country will make all attempts to strengthen its engagement in that region. For this, Canada will make major investments too.

“We are establishing a new Canadian trade gateway in Southeast Asia that will help Canadian businesses expand into new markets, linking them to business networks in this dynamic region.... Canada and the Indo-Pacific region also share strong ties between our people, and we will make these ties even stronger.”
