British Government claims India as one of the first visa-national countries to benefit from the UK-India Young Professionals scheme. This initiative strengthens the Mobility partnership and Migration between the countries which was agreed upon in 2021.
The UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak green signalled for 3000 visas for Indian young professionals to work in and live in the UK every year. This scheme is called the UK-India Young professionals scheme and the students who want to go to the UK under this scheme must be 18-30-year-old graduates and can work and live for nearly 2 years. This scheme is reciprocal.
The launch of this new scheme is substantial for both countries and reinforces both economies. One-fourth of the UK’s international students are from India and it shows the strong connection between the countries. The Investment made by India in the UK directly supports 95,000 jobs across the country.
The UK is already in discussions of negotiations on a trade deal with India. If it gets finalized it would become the first deal of its own kind of India that has been made with a European country. Along with mobilizing the partnership with India, the UK also removes the immigration barriers for India.
