  • EU Blue Card Extension: The EU Blue Card validity period has been extended from 2 years to 4 years.
  • Employer Compliance & Refusal Grounds: Applications can be refused if the employer has a history of tax non-compliance or past permit violations.
  • Operational Duties: Employers must notify authorities if a job fails to start within four months, and must track and confirm employee compensation standards annually.

 

Employer Obligations

Swedish employers sponsoring a work permit must ensure the offered salary meets or exceeds SEK 33,390/month, provide health insurance until Swedish social insurance applies, notify the Migration Agency if employment does not commence within 4 months, and confirm salary compliance annually.

 

Family Sponsorship

Work permit holders in Sweden can sponsor their spouse/partner and dependent children. Family members receive a residence permit tied to the primary holder's permit duration. Family members are also permitted to work in Sweden without a separate work permit.
