In a move to help aspiring immigrants and visa applicants, Australia has recently introduced an online Translating and Interpreting Service (TIS National). The new service aims to make information pertaining to immigration and visas easily accessible in languages apart from English.
The service connects non-English speaking people with over 2,600 interpreters speaking 160 languages. Potential migrants and visa applicants can book an appointment as per their convenience as and when they want.
The booking system works very swiftly allowing the interpreters and clients to connect with each other easily. Clients can update their information on the portal and will be notified of their booking status via an email and SMS notification.
NIS National was launched in the second week of February and few weeks later came New TIS Online Booking System. The service is going strong already - helping non-English speakers get their FAQs related to Australian immigration answered.
TIS National director Trevor Neroy said, "TIS National is committed to providing innovative, cost effective and readily available services in line with the government’s digital first strategy. We are developing new ways to deliver language services relevant to the Australian community."
In a first, the website offers agencies and businesses with TIS National News, various tools, forms and calculator to assist interpreters communicate and provide non-English speaking clients.
