It is suggested that people should cancel their residency visa if they are relocating from Dubai. It is easy if you are residing in Dubai, but you can also cancel it when you are residing elsewhere without traveling back there.
If a person has a residency visa from UAE, but has stayed outside for over six months, his/her visa will expire or be invalidated. It means that the person may not get a new visa from the country where s/he is staying in.
The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs-Dubai said that a service has been made available to those wishing to cancel their residency while staying outside the country, according to Emirates24/7.
Individuals, who have been sponsored and have stayed for more than six months outside the UAE, would need certain documents to make use of this service.
They include: a request cancellation of residence e-form with signature of the sponsor and original passport or departure statement of the sponsored person showing the residency has expired.
For persons, who have stayed for less than six months and want to cancel their residency visas, documents required are a cancellation of residency e-form with signature of the sponsor and passports of sponsored person or expiry of the residency outside the country.
Along with the submission of these documents, the applicants need to pay Dh70 for cancellation by the (e-form) to typists. In addition, Dh130 departure fee is applicable.
Once all these processes have been carried out, one working day will be required to process it.
