The US is the most desired destination for emigrants worldwide with 22 million Chinese and 10 million Indians wanting to move to America permanently, according to a new study. The findings by Gallup show that about 13 per cent of the world's adults or more than 640 million people preferred to leave their countries permanently. About 23 per cent of them (roughly 150 million people), want to move to the US, including 22 million from China, followed by 10-15 million from Nigeria and 10 million from India, according to the survey, giving the US an undisputed title as the globe's most desired destination for would-be migrants. According to the Gallup website, the results are based on aggregated telephone and face-to-face interviews with 4,52,199 people, aged 15 and above, in 151 countries and regions during 2009 to 2011. The primary reason for choosing the US is its society's openness to immigrants, followed by other reasons such as opportunities to join family members or to start a new business, the survey said. The number -- 12 million more than their Indian counterparts -- has prompted analysts in China to call for more measures to stop the outflow of talents and wealth, China's state-run newspaper Global Times said. The trend of Chinese to migrate, especially to US and Canada, in recent times has surprised the country's establishment as it is happening at a time when China has emerged as the second largest economy registering fastest economic growth for about two decades. 25 Apr 2012 http://www.indianexpress.com/news/10-mn-indians-want-to-move-to-america/941429/
