The Coronavirus pandemic has no doubt caused an impact on the job outlook for the UAE. According to a survey by Robert Half, the global recruitment consultancy, the sectors most affected by the pandemic are construction, retail sector, hotels and restaurants. On the bright side, sectors such as government utilities, businesses involved in IT services and FMCG sector have increased their hiring numbers and there is a demand for skilled professionals such as software engineers, finance managers, cybersecurity experts, financial planning analysts etc.
Hiring has slowly started picking up in the UAE from June and essential roles are being advertised which was earlier stalled due to COVID. Employers are also searching for superior skills and expertise that can be tailored to fuel digital transformation in companies that want to make progress.
LinkedIn reported that hiring in the UAE is in recovery from a steep fall due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Jobs that will be in demand in 2021
According to the human resources consultancies Black and Grey and Future Tense, there will be job opportunities in sectors such as digital product development and e-commerce.
While revealing the list of the ten most in-demand jobs for 2021 in Dubai, these HR consultancies believed that digital product development will be among the most highly paid jobs where salaries could go up to Dh40,000 per month.

Sector-wise job outlook
Recruitment firms based in the UAE believe that hiring in sectors such as entertainment, hospitality, logistics, tourism, retail and property, which contribute to the economy will pick up in 2021.
Apart from this, recruitment firms here believe that global start-ups dedicated to areas such as digital transformation, augmented reality and e-learning are looking to establish a base in Dubai and is asking job seekers to develop the skills required to succeed in these fields. They also said that freelancers will also be in demand as the gig economy will continue.
Sectors such as e-commerce, logistics, healthcare, education are likely to see considerable hiring in 2021.
According to Robert Half, the FMCG sector which is required to sustain the economy will hire new staff. The e-commerce sector consisting of start-ups and established firms will also pick up by making new deals, investments, and launches and investments.
“Business leaders are primarily hiring for roles which support financial recovery, digital transformation and human resources,” Robert Half said.
The recruitment firm says that sectors such as pharmaceuticals, utilities, the FMCG and the government will be looking out for people who have a high level of soft skills.
The popular roles people will be hired for include executive assistants, finance managers, human resources (HR) officers, and financial analysts.
There will also be a demand for digital professionals who will play a role in the digital transformation of businesses
As for roles that will be in demand in the technology sector, positions related to cybersecurity, data analytics will be in demand.
Though the Coronavirus pandemic has affected the UAE job market, the job outlook for the country is looking positive as things are changing for the better.
