Overseas travelers can now carry laptops on the Turkish and Emirates flights bound to the US. This includes overseas travelers from India too. Emirates released a statement which said that the laptop ban has been revoked by the US with immediate effect. The US authorities have lifted the restrictions on carrying electronic devices and laptops on US-bound flights.
In March the US had imposed the ban on carrying electronic devices for overseas travelers. The ban was enforced for overseas travelers arriving in the US from 10 destinations, mostly with the Muslim majority.
Emirates’ operates a large number of flights bound for the US. The airline agency said that it is putting forward best efforts to comply with protocols and security measures of the US. Department of Homeland Security in the US has outlined new guidelines for all international flights bound for the US.
Turkish Airlines also issued a separate statement regarding the removal of the ban on electronic devices on US-bound flights. It said that overseas travelers on board in US-bound flights from Ataturk Airport Istanbul can carry electronic devices now.
The overseas travelers arriving in the US from 10 international airports were barred from carrying electronic devices. Istanbul and Dubai were also included in these ten international airports, as quoted by the Indian Express.
The US has now lifted the laptop ban on these two airports. These airports have demonstrated compliance with the stringent security measures laid out by the US earlier this year.
Prior to this, Etihad Airways based at Abu-Dhabi had announced that the US had lifted the laptop ban for it. Overseas travelers would now be permitted to carry electronic devices for US-bound flights, said the airways.
