Minimum 300,000 fresh immigrants are the standard threshold for Canada now said the Immigration Minister of Canada Ahmed Hussen. He said that the number of fresh immigrants accepted in 2018 will definitely not go below from what was accepted in 2017.
The Annual Immigration plan of Government of Canada for 2018 will be placed in the House of Commons by next week. The immigration intake was set at 300,000 in 2017. Ahmed Hussen said that the immigrant intake level of 2017 will be the new standard threshold for Canada. He added that the doors for more immigrants than this number are always open in 2018, as quoted by the CBC CA.
The Immigration Minister of Canada said that the government accepted 300,000 fresh immigrants in 2017 when compared to 260,000 in 2016. This was to cater to the demands of families in Canada for the reunion with the dear ones, said the Minister. The intake of immigrants was also increased owing to demands from the employers. They have been asking to authorize a number of immigrants to cater to their needs for workers, said Hussen.
Ahmed Hussen elaborated that consultations have been held from April 2017. These were aimed at out ling the immigration policy for 2018. The consultations were focused on the numbers to be accepted for 2018, said Hussen. They were also devoted to devising the appropriate mix of different categories of immigration programs, explained Ahmed Hussen.
The vast majority of immigrants will be accepted through the economic class informed Hussen. The reason is that this category has the highest need for immigrants said the Minister. The highest rate of immigration for the last 100 years has been achieved revealed Statistics Canada in its census.
