She observes that there has been a drastic increase in the number of students willing to study abroad. The number has increased from 2.1 million in 2001 to 4.5 million in 2014. She predicts that the number will rise to 7.5 million in 2025. Of these students Canada will be hosting as much as 5% With a hope to create as many as 86,000 new jobs, and add 10 billion dollars to their economy annually, Canada has planned to double the number of international students by the year 2022, to 450,000. This seems to be a possibility because, there is a great difference in the fees paid by native and international students to the Canadian universities.
International students improve Canadian economy
While the natives pay 6000 Canadian dollars as annual fee, the international students are charged 20,000 dollars per year. Throwing more light on the issue of international students in Canada, Jennifer Humphries says the intake of foreign students to Canada has increased over 10 to 12 percent per year. Ms Humphries says that the foreign students not only bring knowledge and research to Canada, but they also add to the tourism aspect, when they have visitors over. An overall look at the scenario, reveal that international students add to the fortune of Canada.
