Here’s an important announcement for all the employers in Dubai. Now you need to make sure that all your employees are covered with health insurance. A rule imposed by the Dubai Health Authority makes it mandatory to cover employees with health insurance, if they want to avoid any hassles. These hassles will show up directly effecting visa issuance and renewal.
WHAT DOES THE SCHEME HAVE IN STORE?
This rule will come into effect from the 1st of August with an aim that all the people in Dubai should be covered under health insurance at any given point of time. This is immediately after the end of second phase on 31st July. However, phase three companies have time until June next year to implement this scheme. It is a great way to ensure health of your employees.
The Dubai Health Authority along with General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) has named a few insurances to be availed by the employees in Dubai. The Dubai government has already enforced Saada Health Insurance Scheme and the Enaya Health Insurance Scheme.
A HEALTHY INTERVENTION
Talking about these new developments, Humaid Mohammed Obaid Al Qatami, Chairman of the board of the DHA, said: "We are pleased to see that a lot of companies have already complied ahead of the timeline and we encourage all those who have not to do before the deadline. We anticipate that in phase two 600,000 people will be insured.’’
For companies with less than hundred employees, the scheme comes to effect from next year. It mandates coverage not only for the employee but also for the dependents, spouses and domestic helpers of the dependents. So, hurry up! Get your employees insured.
