The reading comprehension (RC) segment in the IELTS test is a nightmare for an average test taker due to poor reading habits and a lack of vocabulary. So, to make it easy for you, here are top 10 IELTS reading tips.

  1. Understand the intent of the test

Testing your vocabulary and the ability to understand concept and paraphrasing skills is the whole concepts of reading comprehension tests. Beware of that.

  1. Make your reading routine a priority

It won't be easy until you start reading. Reading magazines, fiction, and articles won't help you through.

You can choose any nature, technology, science, invention and history-related topics.

  1. Improve your reading speed

Improving your reading speed is one skill that is extremely necessary. In order to understand the meaning of the entire passage, you will need to read the passage quickly. The better you understand, the faster you will be able to answer the questions. You must learn to skim and scan through the passage to read it quickly.

  1. Use your time wisely

Imagine 40 questions to be answered in 60 minutes. It means writing down the answers with1.5 minutes for each answer. So, the safest approach is to use the time correctly. Ideally split the time, 20 minutes to read passages, 10 minutes to read all questions and 5 minutes to skim and scan the answers. You'll still have 5 minutes to check your responses.

  1. Annotate correctly

You think annotation is way too relevant. The annotation will lead you to defined answers quickly. If you can read and annotate a paragraph in 3-4 minutes easily, you will be almost able to get a good grade.

  1. When you are stuck, move on

Hold in mind the time-limit. If you're lost and unable to focus on the matter, just move on.  If you are taking more than one minute on one question, it is better to leave it and move on.

  1. Evaluate yourself

When taking their IELTS reading test, everyone needs to consider their strengths and weaknesses. And evaluating yourself more after through practice will help you concentrate on what's lacking. Keep this going.

  1. Test yourself

You can't solve the ILETS test in one go. You need to focus on your language and skills with commitment.

  1. Fine-tune your vocabulary and grammar

IELTS Exam is to check your vocabulary and grammar as we described earlier. Grammar and vocabulary learning is a process that lasts forever. You will discover new English vocabulary every other day. Carry a dictionary to refine your vocabulary.

  1. Do not try to understand the full passage

This is an important tip do not try and understand the whole passage but try to locate the answers.
