Japan Work Visa Immigration agencies in Japan have two goals as mentioned by Government authorities. As with other countries, the first goal is to bring in investment and to add to Japan’s economy. The second point hovers around the national security of Japan where their job is to prevent migrants undesirable to its security, image and economy. To this end, we at Y-Axis we look at Japan’s temporary immigration visas that add to the island nation’s economy through work visas and business visas. A total of 67 regions and countries have been given the visa exemption status. While Brunei, Thailand and Indonesia have permission for 15 days stay; the rest can stay for a period of 90 days. Among the visa exemption list is Singapore, Republic of Korea, Macao, Hong Kong, Canada, USA, Argentina, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, Mauritius and most of European countries including all of Western Europe. The rest need to acquire visas prior to visiting Canada. There are 27 types of residency immigration. Business visa: This temporary visa includes immigrants, who come to attend business meetings, conducting research surveys and such, working on negotiations or contracts, as part of installing machinery, equipment, software, attending training, and for inspection. The length of stay depends on the work and the person’s nationality. Some countries like Germany and Mexico though have larger lengths of permitted stay up to 180 days. The Japanese Immigration Bureau has specified quite a few types in the Work visa category. They are: Business Managers, who stay in Japan working at senior level positions, or want to open a new business in Japan. The Intra-company transfers are directed at professionals who have stayed in Japan over a year and are transferring from one company to another. Specialists in particular fields or universities can apply if they have more than 10 years professional experience in their field of choice; like University professors, engineers and NGOs. In some circumstances, sponsored employees can acquire a PR, between the duration of 3 months to 5 years. Immigration authorities also mention a minimum salary of JPY 200,000 per month (or US$ 1650 per month).
