About 60 percent of American voters are said to be all for the new ban that bars citizens from six countries of Syria, Iran, Libya, Sudan, Yemen and Somalia visiting the United States if they cannot show that they have a close relative in the country.
The Politico-Morning Consult poll results released on 5 July revealed that there was strong support for the new US State Department guidelines from 37 percent of voters. In addition, 23 percent of voters stated that they were okay with the guidelines.
The poll was conducted online on 29 and 30 June after the ruling of the US Supreme Court uploading partially the ban. The respondents were asked in the poll if they were for or against the new ruling.
Earlier, on 26 June, the Supreme Court ruled that the temporary ban on travel could stay so long as visa applicants with a genuine relationship with an American person or entity were allowed.
Most support for the travel ban was from the Republican Party, with 83 percent of its supporters approving of it. Among Democrats, though 46 percent opposed it, 41 percent of them supported it.
As per the ban, prohibited to enter the US are citizens of these six countries for 90 days and refugees from any country for 120 days.
