Manitoba Holds the Third MPNP Draw of the Month

Manitoba is among the 9 provinces and 2 territories that are a part of the Provincial Nominee Program of Canada. Manitoba PNP is officially referred to as the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (PNP).

On December 30, 2021, Manitoba invited a total of 393 candidates to apply for being nominated by the province for permanent residence through Canada’s Provincial Nominee Program, also referred to as Canadian PNP.

Invitations to apply issued by Manitoba – in the Manitoba PNP draws held from time to time – are also called Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs).

This is the third MPNP draw to be held in December 2021. Previously this month, Manitoba PNP invited 349 (in #132 on December 16), and 438 (in #131 on December 2).

As per the MPNP, Express Entry candidates will “only be eligible to receive a nomination if the Express Entry profile is valid at the time of the application assessment”.

Candidates selected by the MPNP must –

  • have indicated that they are working in a regulated occupation, and
  • be fully licensed to work in Manitoba.

Manitoba PNP might not accept or refuse full applications in situations wherein the candidate is – (1) not actually working in a regulated occupation, and/or (2) fails to provide proof of having undergone all the required licensing steps for employment in Manitoba.

Canadian permanent residence through the PNP is a two-step process. Firstly, a PNP nomination will have to be secured by the candidate. The Nomination Certificate can then be used to apply to the federal government of Canada for permanent residence.

For an Express Entry candidate, a PNP nomination is worth 600 CRS points in itself.

Permanent residence submissions are handled by the federal department of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

Manitoba is among the Prairie Provinces of Canada (that comprise Alberta, Manitoba, and Saskatchewan). Manitoba is bounded by Nunavut territory in the north and the US states of North Dakota and Minnesota in the south. While Ontario lies to the east of Manitoba, Saskatchewan makes up the neighboring province in the west. The name ‘Manitoba’ literally means “the narrows of the Great Spirit”, a reference to Lake Manitoba that narrows in its centre.

With the latest round of invitations, Manitoba PNP has issued a total of 10,955 LAAs in the 28 MPNP draws in 2021.
