It is a crime to send false information to IRCC

It is perilous to lie or send false documentation and information to Immigration, Refugees, Citizenship Canada (IRCC). This crime is called “misrepresentation” and is fraudulent.   This misrepresentation can include the altered or fake documents, like:
  • Passports and travel documents
  • Visas
  • Diplomas, degrees, and apprenticeship or trade papers
  • Certificates of birth, marriage, final divorce, annulment, separation, or death and
  • Police certificates

  • Restricts you from going to Canada for five years
  • Remarks a fraudulent record permanently
  • Blocks your status as a permanent resident or Canadian citizen
  • Charges you for the crime, and
  • Removes you from Canada
  The measures taken to eradicate immigration fraud are: Working with partners to eliminate document fraud and enlighten the officers to spread awareness globally. The partners of the IRCC include:
  • The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA)
  • The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) and
  • Foreign police services and
  • Offices that issue identity and status documents
