Meet Sundar Pichai, the new CEO of Google!

The Global Indian who grabbed the attention of people all over the world, Mr. Sundar Pichai will now be known as the new CEO of Google. The rare opportunity came to Pichai after holding various key positions in Google as well as other organizations. Google’s new CEO is a simple man from the South Indian state of Tamil Nadu.

A Leader in the making

Born and brought up in Chennai (India), he was named Pichai Sundararajan. He later came to be known as Sundar Pichai. He was a student of PSBB, Jawahar Vidyalaya and VanaVani. At a very young age Sundar Pichai exhibited extraordinary leadership skills as the captain of the high school cricket team. He took this further, by leading the team into the Tamil Nadu regional cricket tournament. Pichai proved his abilities again during higher education in India and abroad. He earned a Bachelor’s in Engineering Degree from IIT Karagpur, pursued MS from Standford University and finally an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Here, he rose to excellence by being named a Siebel Scholar and a Palmer Scholar.

Ability beyond imagination

His career began in the field of engineering and product management at Applied Materials. This is followed by the responsibility of management consulting at McKinsey & Company. In the year 2004, Pichai entered the world of Google as a leader of the product management. He has many Google products to his credit, in this position. He exhibited outstanding ability by delivering products like Google Chrome, Google OS and Google Drive. Pichai’s demonstration of the open-sourcing of the new video codec VP8 by and introducing the new video format WebM was also well appreciated.

As Sundar Pichai’s potential revealed itself to the world, he rose to the position of Google’s CEO on August 10th this year. Lets hope that he reaches greater heights of his career in the future.
