Why study in the United States of America?

Affordable: Students are allowed to work 20 hours/week during their course and 40hours/week during vacation which helps them to earn and learn. USA has thousands of accredited colleges and universities renowned for quality, numerous programs of study, and flexibility to change fields of study and schools.

Professional Approach: The best approach of the USA education system is that it allows one to learn and earn. This not only gives one, a thorough knowledge of the subjects, but also teaches one to have a practical & professional approach. It gives better growth prospects worldwide. The Optional Practical Training (OPT) allows you to work up to 12 months in the middle of your education. Curricular Practical Training (CPT) is an option available to F-1 students where the practical training is considered to be an integral part of the curriculum or academic program. According to the immigration regulations, this employment may be an internship, cooperative education job, a practicum, or any other work experience that is either required for your degree.

Job Search: The ideal time to start looking for a job is at the end of the second last semester. The student may choose to apply for OPT or H1-B petition as per the availability. This gives you 4-5 months in which you could find a prospective employer in your specific field. Apart from the job profile and salary, Indian students should make sure that the employer will file an H1 B petition for them. Most government departments and many well-known companies do not do this.

Working on your student visa

Foreign students can work for 20 hrs per week and 40 hrs per week during summer. The hourly pay for on campus job ranges from USD$5.15 to USD$15 per hour.

Curricular Practical Training: It is defined as practical training that is part of your curriculum. You are permitted to work full time while you are studying only if this is an integral part in completing the qualification.

Your Dependents 

Spouse and/or unmarried children under the age of 21 may accompany or join the principal visa holder in the United States for the duration of his/her stay. Spouses and dependents may not work in the United States. If seeking employment, the appropriate work visa will be required.

After you Graduate

Your student visa provides the bridge to institutions that can get you working legally in the United States. The school or university you are attending often provides employment opportunities on and off campus. American companies may also sponsor international students to work in the United States.

Optional Practical Training:

After you graduate, you are permitted to work in the USA for 1 year. Before this expires you are required to get an H-1B visa.

Tuition Fees 

The cost of study vary from USD$15,000 to USD$30,000 per year. It all depends on the university you choose to study in. Financial aid is available in the form of scholarships & teaching assistant positions.

Living Expenses 

The cost of living depends on location. For example, states like Washington, California and areas around New York are costly. Costs can be brought down by living in a shared accommodation with other students.

Visa Fee 

UNITED STATES student visa application fee is currently USD$160.00 

Air ticket 

It depends where you fly from & how early you book your ticket. A typical air ticket from Asia will be around $750 to $1000.

United States student visa

Post-Graduation Work Permit

The Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWPP) allows students who have graduated from a participating Canadian post-secondary institution to gain valuable Canadian work experience. Canadian Experience Class

Applying to study

To study in Australia you'll need to an admission from the institute and a valid student visa from the Australian Government.

There are a number of steps you must go through including:

  • Choose your preferred course of study and institution.
  • Submit your admission application to the institute.
  • Receive and accept an offer of admission.
  • Apply and receive your electronic Confirmation of Enrollment (eCoE).
  • Apply for your student visa with the nearest embassy office

Before a student can apply, there are certain  requirements that are to be satisfied as per the Institute or as per the Immigration department to grant an admission/visa respectively.

  • Academic credentials.
  • English language requirements.
  • Evidence of funds to support your study and cost of living.
  • Health insurance cover for your stay.

Australia has Streamlined visa processing arrangement, and the participating Universities will accept applications only from their authorized and recognized agents. So, it is important for a student to know if they can apply for an admission to the University if they choose to process directly.

After graduation

After graduation, a student will have various options. Student may return back to their country or choose to continue further studies by applying for a new admission and visa if required. Also, eligible recent graduates who completed as Australian study of 2 Academic years are allowed to apply for post study work visas, which will allow them to gain local experience and required English skills which would further qualify them for points tested visas that can lead to permanent residence or for other work based visas. If you decide you want to undertake further study or work in Australia you will need to check your visa does not have “No further stay” conditions.

Employment in Australia

Australian qualifications are considered valid and value great across the world which will make you an attractive employee, not just to employers in your country, but those in Australia and around the world as well.

If you have plans to stay in Australia post study and working after your current visa expires, you’ll need to get a new visa that allows you these rights. There are quite good options for the recent graduates in Australia allowing them to stay back and work in the country.

If you completed a Bachelors, Masters or Doctoral degree, you may be eligible for the Post-Study Work stream or Temporary Graduate visa. Qualifications at Diploma/Trade level can look forward for Temporary Graduate visa options.  Alternatively, a local employer may be able to sponsor you for a work visa if he is an approved /eligible sponsor.

You require a visa to enter and reside in this country. As per the immigration laws, visas are essential for all applicants, except from those from the European countries and states with which Germany has entered into an agreement with. A tourist visa does not permit a student to enter the country for academic purposes; a permanent student visa is essential. The body which is responsible for providing visas to foreigners is the German Embassy or the Consulate General of your country. You must remember that a visa application will be accepted only if you have been admitted into a German university.

You may require to provide funds to cover living expenses, if you do not have to pay any tuition fees. The living costs may range from 600-700 Euros/month.

Foreign students cannot expect too much financial support in Germany. As it is difficult to get scholarships in Germany, it is suggested that you begin your search for funding before you reach Germany.
