The University of Wollongong, or UOW for short, is a public university located in Wollongong, New South Wales, about 80 km from Sydney, Australia.

It has nine campuses, with the main campus being in Wollongong. One of the campuses is located overseas in Dubai, Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, and China. It has four faculties and multiple libraries spread over different campuses.

It was founded in 1951 as a division of the New South Wales University of Technology and became an independent institution in 1975.

As of 2020, more than 34,500 students were enrolled on its campuses. At least 60% of them were undergraduates. The remainder was made up of postgraduate and doctoral students. More than 30% of the students were foreign nationals

The University of Wollongong has three intakes to admit students – fall, summer, and autumn. It accepts applications until six weeks before the start of a term. The university has a free online application portal.
