Introduction: Although established officially in 1834, the University of Bern was an educational establishment for monks beginning in the 16th century. The Canton of Bern finances and administers it.
University Overview: It is renowned in five key areas: Politics and administration, intercultural knowledge, matter and the universe, sustainability, and health and medicine. The University of Bern offers courses and programs through eight faculties, more than 180 institutes, seven graduate schools, and nine competence centers.
The University of Bern is not spread across a single main campus but has faculties and schools in Bern's Länggasse area. It acquired and redesigned other buildings located in the area. It offers 39 undergraduate, 76 postgraduate, and various doctorate programs covering disciplines such as humanities, law, medicine, social sciences, theology, veterinary medicine, and others.
Departments and Programs: Located in the capital of Switzerland, it is home to more than 11,000 students, of whom over 1,900 are foreign nationals, and its faculty's strength is more than 1,200.
To foster studies in humanities, it founded three centers in 2008, namely, the Center for the Study of Language and Society, the Center for Cultural Studies, and the Center for Global Studies.
For the Spring Semester, the last date for submission of applications is January 31 for undergraduate and graduate courses and it is August 31 for the Fall Semester.
