Most Canadian businesses have difficulties in finding employees for the empty jobs as there are no Canadian citizens and Canadian permanent residents remaining to do these jobs. More than 40% of Canadian businesses are facing a shortage of skilled people. Hence, there is a huge requirement for foreign immigrants for employment.

 

Unemployment is maximized and has reached its highest 5.7% as of September 2022. Canada is unable to find Canadian PRs or Canadian citizens to fill the unoccupied jobs. Hence the country is in search of immigrants to do these jobs.

Automotive Engineers, NOC Code (TEER code)

Automotive engineering is a part of Mechanical engineering. Like Mechanical engineers, automotive engineers also need to perform research, design, also develop machinery and systems for air conditioning & ventilating, heating, power generation, processing & manufacturing, and transportation.

 

Automotive engineers also need to execute duties like installation, operation, evaluation, and maintenance of some of the mechanical systems. These engineers are usually employed by most consulting firms, and also by power-generating utilities which are comprised of industries like processing, manufacturing, and transportation. Also, they can be self-employed.

Roles and responsibilities for automotive engineers

  • Manage research into the component and systems, design, feasibility, operation & performance of mechanisms.
  • Plan & conduct projects, cost estimates, prepare material, estimation of timings, reports, and design specifications for the systems and machinery.
  • Design components, equipment, fixtures, machines, power plant, and tools.
  • Inspect or analyze the dynamics, structures, and vibration of the mechanical systems.
  • Oversee and inspect the installations, modifications, and commissions of mechanical systems in the industrial facilities or at the construction sites.
  • Develop and expand maintenance standards, schedules & programs and also provide advice to the crews related to industrial maintenance.
  • Investigate and check mechanical failures or unanticipated maintenance problems.
  • Compose contract documents, and evaluate the tenders for industrial maintenance or construction.
  • Supervise the work of technologists, technicians, and other engineers. And also review & approve the designs made, calculation, and estimation of costs.

Eligibility criteria for Automotive Engineers

  • Graduation in Mechanical engineering or any related engineering discipline is needed.
  • A master's or Doctorate in a related engineering discipline might be needed.
  • A license from a provincial or territorial association of professional engineers is needed to get approval for engineering drawings & reports and to practice as P.Eng (Professional Engineer).
  • Engineers are considered eligible for registration after graduation from an accredited educational program. And after 3-4 years of supervised and administered work experience in engineering after passing a professional practice test.
