Eligibility criteria for Marine Engineer

The eligibility criteria for a Marine Engineer in Canada are as follows:

Candidates need to have a Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate engineering discipline.
There may also be a requirement of a Master’s degree or a doctorate in any engineering discipline.
Candidates need to obtain a license from a provincial or territorial association of engineers. This certificate is useful and needful for the approval of reports and engineering designs. The certificate will also allow the candidates to practice as a professional engineer.
Marine engineers will become eligible for registration after:
- completing their graduation from an accredited educational program
- working for three to four years and gaining a supervised work experience in engineering
- passing a professional engineering examination
