Express Entry: CEC-specific draw invites 6,000

In another round of invitations to be held within two days, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada [IRCC] has invited Express Entry candidates with previous Canadian experience.

On April 29, 2021, IRCC Express Entry Draw #185 has invited another 6,000 Canada immigration hopefuls — eligible for the Canadian Experience Class [CEC] — to apply for their Canada PR.

The minimum ranking score required, as per the Comprehensive Ranking System [CRS], was that of CRS 400.

 

With a tie-breaking rule applied, CEC candidates that had a CRS 400 and above received an invitation in the latest Express Entry draw, provided they had entered their profile into the pool of candidates before the date and time specified.

One of the three economic immigration programs under the IRCC Express Entry system, the CEC is specifically targeted at skilled workers with Canadian work experience that wish to take up permanent residence in the country.

In order to be eligible for the CEC, a candidate must possess a minimum of one year’s skilled work experience in Canada in the previous three years before applying.

Here, by “skilled work experience” is implied work experience, in Canada, in either Skill Level 0, or Skill Type A or B as per the National Occupational Classification [NOC] matrix. The required job experience can be in one or more NOC 0, A or B jobs.

While there is no education requirement for the CEC, a candidate’s educational qualification can be used towards improving their rank in the federal Express Entry pool.

Those with a foreign credential will be required to secure an Educational Credential Assessment [ECA] report “for immigration purposes” from any of the organizations, such as the World Education Services or WES, that are designated for the same.

With the latest Express Entry Draw #185, the federal government of Canada has issued a total 61,771 invitations in the 15 IRCC draws held so far in 2021.

Canada will be taking in 401,000 newcomers in 2021.
