Canada raises the minimum hourly pay to Rs. 1015 from April 1, 2023

  • Canada increases its minimum hourly pay by 7 percent, $1.10.
  • The change was made to match the continuous increase in the cost of living.
  • As per the ESDC, the minimum hourly pay will increase to $16.65 from April 1, 2023.
  • In 2022, the Consumer Price Index also rose by 6.8%.
  • The federal minimum wage rate applies to federally regulated private-sector workers.

Canada minimum wage

Canada increased the minimum hourly wage by 7%, which is $1.10. This change was made to meet the continuous increase in the cost of living. According to Employment and Social Development Canada, the minimum hourly wage will increase to $16.65 from April 1, 2023. In 2022, the Consumer Price Index also rose by 6.8%. 

 

Minimum hourly pay of provinces across Canada

The federal minimum wage rate is applied to postal and courier services workers, banks, interprovincial air, rail, road, and marine transportation, and other federally regulated private sectors. Employers must pay their workers either the federal minimum wage or the minimum wage in their province/territory of operation, whichever is lower.
