Highlights of Canada adding 108,000 jobs in October

  • Canada added 108,000 more jobs in October for International immigrants.
  • Employment increased in industries like Accommodation and Food Services, Construction, and Manufacturing.
  • The unemployment rate was 5.2 percent in the Canadian workforce market in October.
  • The jobs have increased in Manitoba, Newfoundland and Labrador, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, Quebec, and Saskatchewan.
  • The average hourly wages of the employees have remained at 5 percent for the last 5 months.

Canada adds up jobs in October

According to Statistics Canada, the country has added up 108,000 more jobs. Employment is maximized in certain industries, led by Food services, Construction and accommodation, and Manufacturing. Foreign immigrants were getting profited to get these jobs.

Compared to the workforce employees’ survey in 2006, the employment rate for immigrants who are 15 years old or above was high in October 2022.

The employment rate increased by 5.6% in October compared to the immigrants who were admitted to Canada in the last 5 years. The current unemployment rate is remaining the same at 5.2% in October, though there was a growing number of employees of 110,000.

Most of the growth of the jobs in Canada in October was from the private sector.

The employment among core working ages between 25 to 54 has increased whereas the Gen Zers, older workers, baby boomers, and young workers' job numbers remain the same.

The growth in jobs was observed in the following six provinces in October:

  • Ontario
  • Quebec
  • Prince Edward Island
  • Newfoundland and Labrador
  • Saskatchewan
  • Manitoba

Economic immigration pathways for foreign immigrants

Employers in Canada attract workers using economic immigration pathways to recruit foreign immigrants.

  • Temporary Foreign Worker Program (TFWP)
  • The International Mobility Program (IMP)

Employers can also immigrate using the Global Talent Stream (GTS), which is a part of the TFWP. The normal processing situations under this stream will lead you to get granted work permits in Canada and visa application processing within 2-weeks.

Employers can get foreign nationals to fill the unoccupied jobs through the economic immigration process Express Entry system for which the applications need to be submitted online. Express Entry is further classified into pathways:

These pathways draw the candidates from the Express Entry pool. The candidates with the necessary Comprehensive Ranking System scores will be sent Invitations to Apply (ITAs) in the regular draws.
