If candidates want to apply for a Canada PR visa through Express Entry, the minimum points they have to score is 67 out of 100. There are various factors on the basis of which points are calculated, and it is available in the table below:

Language skills

Applicants should be able to communicate in any of the two official languages which are English and French. Candidates can get a maximum of 28 points on four factors which are:

• Write
• Read
• Listen
• Speak

Candidates can go for IELTS or CELPIP for English and TEF or TCF for French. The points that candidates can get through language proficiency skills for English and French are given in the table below: English is the first language in which candidates will receive a maximum of 24 points

Education

Educational qualifications will provide a maximum of 25 points. Candidates need to have a certificate, diploma, or a degree from the following Canadian educational institutes:

• secondary institution (high school) or
• post-secondary institution

If candidates have foreign education, they have to go for an Educational Credential Assessment that has to be conducted by a designated organization. The ECA ensures that foreign education is equivalent to Canadian education. The table below reveals the points through education:

Work experience

Candidates can also get points for part-time jobs if they have worked for 15 hours per week for 24 months at skill type 0 or skill levels A or B of the 2016 NOC. Age

Age of candidates will provide a maximum of 12 points. Candidates having the age between 18 and 35 years will get the maximum points. The points will reduce with the increase in age. Arranged employment in Canada

Candidates can get points if they receive a job offer from a Canadian employer. The job offer should be of at least one year. Candidates need to have a job offer before they submit application to migrate to Canada as a federal skilled worker. This factor will provide a maximum of 10 points to the applicants.

Adaptability

The spouse or common-law partner of a candidate can earn points for adaptability. A maximum of 10 points can be earned through this factor. The points can be earned by combining any of the factors given in the table below:

  If candidates score 67 points, they will not get a Canada PR visa, but they will become eligible to apply for the visa through the Express Entry draw. After receiving the invitations to apply, candidates can apply for the visa through the different streams of Express Entry system These streams are:

• The Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP)
• The Canadian Experience Class (CEC)

Candidates will get 600 points automatically if they receive a provincial nomination. They have to create an Express Entry profile. Many provinces have automated selection process that depends upon the CRS score or NOC code. There are three different options through which immigrants can apply outside the Express Entry pool. These include:

• Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program

There are different ways which candidates can use to improve their CRS score. These ways are discussed below:

Language

Language is a factor which can provide 310 points when it is combined with other factors like post-secondary education. The points can be raised up to 320 if the applicant is accompanied by a spouse or common-law partner. Language proficiency is a factor which can help candidates to improve their scores easily. This is so because minimal requirements are needed to gain points through this factor. The Federal Skilled Worker Program requires CLB 7 for eligibility. Candidates can earn more points if they get CLB 10 for reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Language factor is also valuable because of different sections of CRS, which are as follows:

• Human capital factors
• Spousal factors
• Skill transferability combinations
• Additional factors
