Gonzaga University in the Netherlands is hosting new study abroad programs in the summer of 2019. It is going to take place over three weeks. During these programs, they will teach students sustainability strategies in urban areas. The programs are meant for Civil Engineering students. They will be travelling to Delft to participate in various real-life case studies.
Alexandra Maxwell, Co-director of Gonzaga-in-Delft, insisted that it’s a great opportunity for Gonzaga students. The purpose of these programs is to promote Overseas Education among Gonzaga students. It is solely meant for them to immerse themselves in the topic of sustainable urbanism.
Delft is well-known for its transportation methods. These methods encourage public transportation as opposed to driving. Students will get to learn strategic agriculture. They will be taught how to use the land to supply more food to cities.
As reported by The Gonzaga Bulletin, these programs are not exclusive to Gonzaga University. Rhonda Young, Co-director of the programs, said that she was earlier involved with a similar program with Portland State University. She was amazed by the level of growth in students. She wanted to offer a similar experience to Gonzaga students. They have expanded the scope to the entire built environment. Their aim is to encourage maximum students to take up Overseas Education. She believes it will eventually offer them a promising career.
This is the first ever summer study abroad program designed for engineering students in the Netherlands. Maxwell added that the programs will especially benefit civil engineering students. However, it is also open to non-civil-engineering students interested in sustainability practices. It should also interest those planning for Overseas Education.
The Study Abroad department is receiving a lot of applications. Ryan Ward is one of the students at Gonzaga University. He said he is passionate about sustainable urban planning. He would love to avail of this opportunity.
Applications will be open until 1st February 2019. They would select the students depending on a rolling admittance. Students are advised to ensure their spot at the earliest. These programs will open pathways for them to Overseas Education.
