Canada Jobs

If you are looking at making a career in Canada by looking for opportunities to work in Canada, then the best option for you is to get a professional certification from Canada. You might be wondering on how this can help you in your career. A Canadian certification for your trade or profession will help you to showcase your skills, experience and knowledge to potential Canadian employers.

A World Education Services (WES) survey discovered that among new immigrants who came to Canada in search of a job, only about 35% of them found a job relevant to their experience and education. The survey also discovered that more than 30% of the respondents complained that employers did not recognize their qualifications or experience.

This can lead to frustration and an unsuccessful job search experience. Immigrants come to Canada with the hope that their education and experience which helped them migrate will help them find a suitable job but are disappointed with the job offers that come their way.

Getting a Canadian certification can turn the situation around and help you get the job that you desire.

Why is a Canadian certification important?

There are two kinds of professions in Canada:

  1. Regulated professions
  2. Non-regulated professions

Regulated professions are those which involve the safety and well-being of the people. These include healthcare professionals, construction professionals such as civil engineers, social workers and legal professionals. These professionals must be certified by either a federal, provincial or territorial authority.

A certification of your qualifications ensures consistency and quality especially in regulated professions which are connected to the welfare of the people. A professional certification helps them to update their skills so that they can do better in their work. It will act as proof of your knowledge to employers and show your interest in your professional development.

This is equally applicable to non-regulated professions as well. Though a certification is not mandatory it shows your enthusiasm for learning and updating your career.

Where can you get your certification?

There are both government and private bodies in Canada that can help you get a professional certification.

If you must do a course for professional development, this will give you an opportunity for further learning and will open better job opportunities for you in Canada.
