What is Ontario’s Regional Immigration Pilot?

Spreading economic immigration to the rural and small communities in the province, the two-year Pilot allows international students, foreign workers and others that have the education, experience, and the right skills to apply for an OINP nomination for Canada PR.

Under the Pilot, nominations under OINP’s Employer Job Offer are set aside for candidates looking to settle within any of the participating communities – City of Cornwall, Chatham-Kent, or Cities of Belleville and Quinte West.

As Ontario PNP’s Reginal Immigration Pilot works within the existing Employer Job Offer OINP streams, there is no separate criteria as such.

To be considered by Ontario for the Regional Immigration Pilot, you must –

  • qualify for any of the OINP Employer Job Offer streams, and
  • your full-time job offer in Ontario must be from an employer situated in any of the Pilot communities.

The goal of the Pilot is to attract highly-skilled immigrants to the rural and small communities in Ontario.

In 2021, there are 150 nomination spaces available for the Regional Immigration Pilot of Canada.

What is the Employer Job Offer category of the OINP?

A full-time and permanent job offer from an Ontario employer will be required.

There are three streams under Ontario’s Employer Job Offer category –

[1] Foreign Worker: For workers in skilled positions

[2] International Student: For recent graduates in Ontario.

[3] In-Demand Skills: For intermediate skilled workers in certain sectors

Which OINP streams require an Expression of Interest?
