The State Department of the United States announced that it would launch a pilot program for the renewal of temporary work visas, including H1B and L visas domestically. Prime Minister Modi and President Biden made the announcement in a Joint Statement during the PM’s state visit to the US last month.
The program will be launched later this year for temporary work visas only. However, they plan to include other eligible categories in due course.

Ajay Bhutoria is a Silicon Valley technology executive, community leader, speaker, and author. He recently applauded the announcement of the pilot program enabling the renewal of temporary work visas within the US. He also acclaimed that the step would relieve the thousands of hundreds of Indians working on an H-1B visa.
The tech executive also thanked President Joe Biden, Prime Minister Modi, and AANHPI Commission for the move.
Currently, at the time of visa renewal, the H-1B visa holders are required to get their passports stamped with the new dates. The process is required to be followed every time these visa holders go out of the US and re-enter the country.
The process is tiresome and causes immense inconvenience for the foreign guest workers and their employees.
