Canada becomes the third country to approve COVID-19 vaccine

Canada has given the green light to COVID-19 vaccine. As per the Canadian government, “Health Canada authorized the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 mRNA vaccine (Tozinameran or BNT162b2) for use for the COVID-19 pandemic.”

Canada is the third country in the world, after the UK and Bahrain, to authorize a COVID-19 vaccine.

Health Canada has given its first approval for the COVID-19 vaccine – developed by Pfizer and BioNTech Manufacturing – on December 9, 2020.

At the time of applying for any marketing authorization, the companies are required to submit a risk management plan to Health Canada.
