Canada's British Columbia has held another round of invitations under the Provincial Nominee Program [PNP].

The province of British Columbia is projected to have 861,000 job openings between 2019 and 2029

On June 22, 2021, British Columbia PNP, also referred to as BC PNP, held 2 separate draws in the same day. A total of 395 Canada immigration hopefuls received invitations.

341 invitations in latest BC PNP draw went out to general candidates under the qualifying streams. Another 54 BC PNP invitations have been issued specifically to candidates, under these streams, with their occupation code as NOC 0621 and NOC 0631.

Here, by the ‘NOC’ is implied the National Occupational Classification matrix used for classifying the occupations and jobs in the Canadian labour market. Each of the occupations has a unique 4-digit NOC code.

Those invited can now proceed to applying to the BC PNP for being nominated by the province for permanent residence in Canada.

The previous draw by British Columbia, a BC PNP Tech draw, was held on June 15, 2021.

An Overview of June 22 BC PNP round of invitations

SI – International Graduate 85
SI – Entry Level and Semi-Skilled 75

Note. By the minimum score is implied the score given following an assessment of certain factors on registration with the BC PNP’s Skills Immigration Registration System [SIRS].

Invitations issued by British Columbia PNP in the latest provincial draw went to candidates under the categories of –

  • Skills Immigration [SI]: For individuals with the skills, experience and qualifications in demand by employers in British Columbia.
  • Express Entry BC [EEBC]: For workers and international students that have the skills, education and/or experience required for high-demand occupations in BC. Aligned with the federal Express Entry system of Canada.

An online application management system, Express Entry was introduced by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada [IRCC] in January 2015. British Columbia PNP launched their EEBC category at the same time.

An IRCC Express Entry candidate that is able to secure a PPNP nomination – under any of the Express Entry linked PNP streams – is allotted 600 CRS points. Used for ranking profiles in the Express Entry pool, the Comprehensive Ranking System determines as to which candidates are invited to apply.

Applying for Canadian permanent residence via IRCC Express Entry is by invitation-only.

As only the highest-ranked receive invitations, a PNP nomination bringing in 600 CRS points in itself, guarantees an invitation to apply by IRCC.

Candidates that are nominated by a provincial or territorial government [PT] for their Canadian permanent residence must be committed to “live and work” within the nominating province/territory after being granted their Canada PR visa.

With the latest BC PNP draw, a total of 5,765 invitations have been issued by British Columbia PNP in 2021 so far.
