The latest Express Entry Draw #158 was held on August 5, 2020. As there was no program specified as such for this draw, candidates from the Federal Skilled Worker Program [FSWP], Federal Skilled Trades Program [FSTP], Canadian Experience Class [CEC] and Provincial Nominee Program [PNP] were eligible for this round of invitations.

The previous Express Entry draw was held on July 23, 2020.

3,900 Canada immigration candidates were invited in the latest Express Entry round on August 5. Invitations to Apply [ITAs] were issued to candidates that had a Comprehensive Ranking System [CRS] score of 476 and above.

This is the second all-program draw to be held since the COVID-19 special measures were introduced in Canada on March 18 this year. The earlier all-program draw on July 8 had a minimum CRS 478 requirement.

Between March 18 and July 8, Canada has held program-specific draws, alternating between the CEC and the PNP.

With a CRS of 476 in the present draw, CRS drops 2 points from the previously held all-program Express Entry draw.

As per Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada [IRCC], a tie-breaking rule – of July 27, 2020 at 01:02:47 UTC – was applied in this draw. By the tie-break rule is implied that “if more than one candidate has the lowest score, the cut-off is based on the date and time they submitted their Express Entry profiles.”

This is the 25th Express Entry draw to be held in 2020. With this, a total of 61,600 ITAs have been issued so far this year. A new record for this date in view of the number of invitations issued by the same date in the previous years.

Those receiving ITAs can proceed to applying for Canada permanent residence. Canada has a standard processing time of 6 months for Canada PR applications filed through the Express Entry system.

The target for 2020 – as per the 2020-2022 Immigration Levels Plan – stands at 85,800 ITAs.
