A person who is applying for Australia PR must take an English Language Proficiency Exam and score the minimum score. The applicant can choose to take PTE, IELTS, or TOEFL. If the applicant decides to take the PTE exam, the applicant must take the PTE academic exam. The applicants will get the result within 48 hours of taking the exam. English Language Proficiency has a maximum score of 20 points on the Australia Points Grid.

The PTE exam for Australia has 3 parts: Speaking and writing, Listening, and Reading.
Part 1: Speaking and writing
Under this section, the candidate is given certain tasks that test their speaking and writing levels. The candidate performs tasks like repeating a sentence, reading out loud, answering questions briefly, and writing easily.
Part 2: Reading
In this section, the applicant will perform tasks such as answering the multiple-choice questions, filling in the gaps, rearranging the phrases, comprehension, etc.
Part 3: Listening
Under this section, the candidate’s listening skills are tested as they perform certain tasks such as identifying the correct summary, selecting the missing words, writing the dictated words, identifying the sounds, etc.

The PTE exam score that is required to apply for Australia PR is 65 points and above.
The PTE exam is valid for 2 years from the exam date.
The exam fee is INR 14,700.
