The application process for courses/programs to Study Abroad can be complicated.  First you will have to choose a course and know the basic qualifying requirements. The next step is to understand the process and requirements. Then you will have to get the documents ready and the most important step is to apply before the deadline.

Most universities abroad have two intakes for admissions in a year, this is usually in the month of September and January. Some universities also accept a third intake in April or May. If you want to study abroad, you should follow a schedule so that your application can be processed on time and you get admission into your desired course. Ideally, you should begin your preparation one year in advance. Here is a timeline you can follow:

10-12 months: Do your research

Zero on the course which you think is most suitable based on your strengths, qualifications, and interests

Visit the websites of the shortlisted universities, check on their application procedures, course fees, deadlines, etc.

Research on any scholarships or grants the university offers

9-10 months: Take the required tests

Take standardized English proficiency tests such as IELTS or TOEFL.

Take the GMAT, GRE or SAT exam required for some courses

Check on the qualifying scores

Start your preparation for these exams

Keep some buffer time in case you must take the test again

7-8 months: Prepare your application

Shortlist the universities based on your scores in qualifying tests

Consider your interests, budget, and location

Start preparing your application by collating required documents

3-4 months: Decide on your admission

Respond promptly to acceptance mails and personal interview calls from universities

Before giving your response think through your decision and discuss with your counselor

Deposit the minimum admission amount

Apply for any eligible scholarships

2-3 months-Prepare your visa

Start the paperwork for your visa based on the rules in that specific country

Apply for the visa well ahead in time

1-2 months-Prepare for departure

Finalize your health insurance and accommodation

Book flight tickets in advance

Collate all documents needed on arrival

Start packing
