A skilled worker can apply for Australia PR under

  • Subclass 189 - Skilled Independent Worker Visa
  • Subclass 190 - Skilled Nominated Worker Visa
  • Subclass 491 – Skilled Regional (Provisional) Worker Visa

To apply for an Australian PR as a skilled worker, there are a few steps one must follow. They are:

Step 2: Getting Skill Assessment Test done

In this test, the applicant's skills are evaluated to check if they match Australian standards. This evaluation is done by the Australian authorities. The applicant's chosen skilled occupation must be on the Skilled Occupation List (SOL) issued by the Australian authorities. There are three categories under this list, and each category has a separate evaluation process and a different set of authorities.

Step 3: Language Proficiency Test

Proficiency in the English language is a must for the applicants. For Australia PR, one must clear either one of the following tests:

  • IELTS: with an average score of 6 points
  • PET: with a score of 65 and above

Step 4: Registering an Expression of Interest – EOI

The next step is filing an Expression of Interest (EOI). One can register their EOI on Australia's Skill Select website. While filling out the form, the applicant needs to answer a few questions related to their skills.

Step 5: Getting an Invitation to Apply - ITA

After the EOI is submitted, if the candidate meets all the requirements, the applicant receives an Invitation to Apply (ITA). The applicant must submit the required documents within 60 days of receiving an ITA.

Step 6: Submitting the Australia PR application

The next step is submitting the Australia PR application. At the time of the submission, the applicant must have all the related documents, such as personal documents, immigration documents, and work experience documents.

Step 7: Getting an Australian PR

On submission of the application and background verification, the applicants receive their Australian PR Visa.
