Ways to Improve CRS score

Individuals willing to migrate to Canada can improve their CRS score that will help them secure an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for a PR visa.

Some of the ways of improving the CRS score are given below:

  • Boost language score—Score well in language proficiency tests like IELTS. For individuals scoring a Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) of 9 in the language test, up to 136 direct points will be awarded to their CRS. A French test can add another 74 points.
  • Provincial Nominee Program- An invitation from the Provincial Nominee Program can add an additional 600 points.
  • Get a work offer [LMIA approved] - After receiving a job offer from a recognized Canadian employer, 200 points will be added.
  • Receive education in Canada- individuals who have an education degree in Canada will be awarded 30 points.
  • Inclusion of Dependents—Both the individual and their spouse can earn additional points when applying for a visa. The spouse's language proficiency is worth 20 points, whereas education and work experience will add 10 points each. This will add 30 points to the CRS score in total.
  • Previous Work Experience in Canada—the individual has three years of work experience; the CRS score can be increased by 180 points.
