What are Felix scholarships?

The United Kingdom offers the Felix Scholarship to encourage talented students from developing countries. The Felix scholarships are offered on MPhil/PhD, DPhil, and Master’s programs for any field in any subject. This scholarship comes under merit-based and need-based categories. Students from developing countries with outstanding academic achievements are eligible for this grant. Under this scholarship program, 100% tuition fee coverage and a stipend for living expenses are assured.

The Felix Scholarship is open for Indian students and the students from other developing countries enrolled in a full-time postgraduate program the University of Reading, the University of Oxford and SOAS or SOAS.

Eligibility for Felix scholarships

To be eligible for the Felix Scholarship, students must meet the following criteria:

  • Students must be from India or another developing country.
  • Students must be below the age of 30.
  • Students must hold a first-class undergraduate degree from a recognized university.
  • Students must have been accepted into a full-time postgraduate /masters/doctorate programs at the above mentioned universities.

Selection Process

  • Universities scrutinize the eligible candidates based on their academic excellence and financial need.
  • Students whom the university selected must complete a questionnaire.
  • After this step, they have to attend an interview round. In the interview process, the interviewers consider the student’s academic ability, financial need, and the need for the scholarship.

How to apply for Felix scholarships?

The application process for the Felix Scholarship depends on the university. Students must first apply for admission to the postgraduate program they are interested in, then for the scholarship.

Step 1: For the University of Oxford, there is no need for any separate application for the Felix Scholarship. They need to tick a box on their Oxford PG application form.

Step 2: For the University of Reading, students must enroll in the PG program upon receiving the offer. Students need to apply for the scholarship from the website.

Step 3: For SOAS, students must apply for a Master’s or Research degree program at SOAS. After that, the students must complete the Felix Scholarship online application form.

Step 4: All applicants must submit the following documents with their application:

  • A copy of their undergraduate degree certificate
  • A copy of their postgraduate offer letter
  • A personal statement
  • Two letters of recommendation
  • A financial statement

Step 5: The selection process for the Felix Scholarship is competitive. Students will be selected based on their academic excellence and financial need.
