The 2023 EURES report on shortages and surpluses revealed that Norway is struggling with a lack of workers in 193 professions. Shortages are distributed among hospitality, personal services, IT, healthcare, food preparation, cleaning, and healthcare sectors. Norway has also appeared among the six EU countries with the highest number of occupations in shortage. Foreigners who belong to most in-demand occupations have more employment opportunities in Norway. Norwegian language is considered as the easiest and fast learning language for English speakers.
Norway has also reported seven excess occupations, such as beauticians, freight handlers, building caretakers, vehicle cleaners, and related workers, receptionists, stock clerks, and graphic and multimedia designers.
Finding employment opportunities in these occupations may be difficult due to the high competition.

Norway has appeared among EURES countries with the highest dependence on foreign doctors. Also with specialist/generalist medical practitioners, Norway has reported other healthcare-related occupations, including midwifery professionals and nursing professionals.
According to EURES report, Ireland, Norway, and Switzerland show the highest dependency on foreign trained doctors.

According to Numbeo, the living costs for a single person per month in Norway are estimated to be about €1,100 (NOK 12,981), this does not include the rent. And monthly rent for a one-room apartment in Norway will be around €812 (NOK 9,570) outside the city centre and €1,112 (NOK 13106) in the city centre.
Comparatively living costs are higher and it also varies depending on the number of family members and location.
