Poland, India, and Pakistan have emerged as the top 3 source nations for UK immigrant population. Poland accounts for 9.5% of the UK immigrant population while India accounts for 9.0%. Pakistan accounts for 5.9% and is at the third rank. Ireland with 4.5% is at the 4th position while Germany is in the 5th position with 3.3%.

Indian and Polish citizenship is also the major overseas nationalities in the UK. The Poles are the largest group and account for 15.7% of the overseas nationals in the UK.
The size of the overseas-born population in the UK was 3.8 million in 1993. It had crossed 8.7 million in 2015. The numbers of overseas-born individuals are increasing annually in the UK, as quoted by the Guardian. The exceptions were the years 2013, 2010, 2007, and 1996. There were marginal decreases in these years.
