The Immigration Ministry of Quebec updated the list of “Areas of Training” on 1st November.

The new and updated Areas of Training list will replace the old list published on 2nd August 2018. The new list will apply to all applications that are submitted before or after 1st November 2019.

Quebec uses the Areas of Training list to determine your eligibility for the PEQ (Quebec Experience Program). The list is also used to score candidates who apply for a CSQ (Quebec Selection Certificate).

You must obtain a CSQ to migrate to Quebec on a Permanent Residency Visa.

Quebec updates its Areas of Training list periodically to reflect the current employment and economic needs of the province.

The Areas of Training list is sub-divided into five sections from A to E. Those listed under Section A are the most in-demand in the province.

The Quebec Skilled Worker Program (QSWP) uses 10 factors to score a candidate who has applied for a CSQ. The Areas of Training is one of these factors.

The Quebec points grid awards points for your qualification and the level of employer demand. Applicants’ whose qualifications are listed under Section A of the Areas of Training get 12 points.

While determining who to invite for a PR, the Areas of Training play a vital part in the QSWP.

Quebec has also updated its criteria for the Quebec Experience Program. All eligible candidates must have either a degree or a diploma in an eligible area of training.

Eligible areas of training are the ones that are listed under Part II of Section A and B of the list.

The revised criteria for the Quebec Experience Program came into effect from 1st November.
